MY WEEKEND IN CALGARY

My weekend in Calgary was awesome, and a nice break from Kamloops. While we (me, Jordan, Thea and Chris) were in Calgary we went to the Mount Royal College residence to party it up with some friends of Jordan from Grand Forks, we went to see McMahon Stadium and the University of Calgary, and we went out to the back alley, ah the back alley, what a place that was.
Finding John's place on Friday night took some time, but once we found it the rest of the weekend ran smoothly. When we first got into Calgary it was raining, and then once the rain stopped, it was dark out, making it harder to find his place. Prior to going to his place on Friday we went to Joey Tomato for dinner. Man, what a nice place that is! I'd been to the one in Kelowna before which was nice too, but this one was even better.

Chris: They base their hiring on looks. No ugly girls can work here.

Chris was right, and I was saying the same thing. The girls working in this place were all quite attractive, better than anywhere I'd been to in Kamloops. The meal was good too. I got a rotisserie chicken that came with mashed potatoes and carrots. After eating I drove around for a while before finally finding John's place, but I just won't get into that. I found it, that's the main thing.
He lives in an apartment right in downtown Calgary on 15 Ave. SW which is really cool. There's a Safeway just down the road, a few malls nearby, movie theatre just down the road, banks and some nice restaurants. I wish the weekend was longer and I had more time to see all of these places. Ah well, tough break.

Friday night was an okay night, and we all had our share of drinks, particularly Chris. This residence was really cool. It was like a condo with a pool table in the basement, which was being occupied for the duration of the party. Me and John playing around a bit too, and I was sharkin' it up as usual.

After a day of some sight-seeing around the University of Calgary, Saturday night was to be the main event, our whole reason behind going to Calgary, to go to a bar and get ripped. Everything leading up to it was just primary now. We were going to the Back Alley, and it would be some fun.

Unfortunately we never went to Hooters before entering the Back Alley like I wanted. We ended up walking right in that bar at around 9:30, which was cool, because they were serving beers for cheaper before 10, at 2 bottles for $4. After those 2, I ordered another 2, took a shot, ordered another beer, then was ready to hit the dance floor, which was empty for a good 45 minutes after we got there, then got packed. It didn't just get a few up there. As soon as a couple made the first move, it filled up.
After going on and off the dance floor, I basically got on for good after a few more beers. I danced with various girls, one John described as being on the chubby side, and a few others, some younger, some older. In only got the names of a few, and it was so loud in there my ears are still ringing as I'm typing this article, no kidding.
Then the DJ up above the dance floor invited a bunch of girls to pile up on a bar counter, and they did, to promote a special event happening today, damn I wish I was still there. The girls then began tossing away free condoms onto the dance floor, two of which were grabbed by myself. At this point I was a little drunk, but still enjoying myself on the dance floor.
As much as I liked this bar, and the music, it became too loud for my liking. Towards the end of the night I couldn't hear a thing anybody was saying and would just nod and say yes as if I could comprehend what was coming out of their mouths. I didnt' want to get them to repeat it because I probably still wouldn't hear them. I had enough fun as it was grinding with them, and was content with that. I was just saving my vocal chords. Then after getting back to John's I passed out, then woke up on Sunday with ringing loud and clear, and the voices of my friends a little faint and far away.

Thea: Your chicken is still on your car, did you want it?

I was a little brain dead yesterday to say the least, as if every brain cell I had decided to take a day off. We left John's appartment to go back to Kamloops, and I was about to put the chicken in the car, but must have forgot, and left it on the roof. Somehow, the chicken and the silicone container it was in managed to stay on my car, hanging off the back end after I parked at Tim Hortons where we had a lunch prior to leaving town. I threw the chicken out at that point, because my car was dirty on the top. I did a couple other stupid things over the weekend which I just won't get into.

JOHN'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS KAMLOOPS

John: Al you're a Kamloops lifer.
me: No I'm not.
John: Lifer!
me: Hey, as soon as I get my degree, I'm out of that town.

John likes to hack on me because I live in Kamloops and he doesn't like it. He told me how he and his friend Keith actually made a list of all the things they don't like about Kamloops while they were here, which is pretty lame I think. Of course you're not going to enjoy a place if you just complain and bitch about it. He can joke all he wants, but he just didn't give this city a chance. I don't mind Kamloops, and I think the people are cool and not stupid like he calls them. I do have to say after being in Calgary for the weekend I'd rather live there, but we can't all be so lucky. Anyhow, I'm in Kamloops now, and I'm going to make the most out of it.
